Bonnet help

Vroom

I have been wanting to try bonnets for a while but im scared that I might be a little on the to heavy side to rock it. Im scared my face might be not the cute kind of round for them. I tried looking for photos of people in bonnets but there was no tag for them in DL. I was hoping people who have a more round face or on the heavier side could show me pictures of them in bonnets.

I also wanted to know from the people who wear bonnets where you get them from. I tried taobao but all I can find are the floppy kind and I would like to try the more stiff kind. I have seen some for sale on comm sales but they are around $80 and since im not sure how its gonna look I was hoping to find some cheaper offbrand ones.

Reference photos of my face. (I know these are not my best looking photos, but they have the most accurate showing of my true face shape.)

I think the only chance is to try it. maybe you can borrow one from a fellow lolita? and yes the stiff ones cost a lot more but are worth it

English Charm has cheaper stiff-brimmed bonnets--their stiff brim are $45, and their regular ones are $30. The stiff ones are more expensive, but like the other poster said, some people think that they're worth it.

I've actually been having the same dilemma as you--my face is rounder, but I'm not sure if it's the "cute" round... I've been debating borrowing one of my friend's bonnets to try it on, but the problem is that she wears sweet and I wear gothic, so I'm not sure if it's quite the same "effect"... I can hate a dress on me when it's pink, but love the same exact cut in black or navy...

I have an English Charm Bonnet (the not stiff one), and what I do is tie it behind my head. But I had to hand sew in a little ribbon at the top to attach an aligator clip to it so it stays put. Then I bobby-pin it on the sides, and then tie it behind my head. Unfortunately, I don't have any decent pictures of it that you can actually see.

Hey there, I've been considering the soft brim English Charm bonnet for awhile but I've been hesitant and I wonder if perhaps you could answer my question? I know they're not actually stiff brim, but are they still stiff enough that they keep their shape over time? Or are they really floppy and you have to adjust them quite a bit so they don't fall down?

I have an English Charm "stiff" bonnet, and they do keep their shape very well. I've only worn it a couple times but I've traveled with lots of times and the shape still holds wonderfully. Because of it's size, I need to add a hair comb/alligator clips to the base to keep it on. Last time I wore it without any reinforcement it looked nice but slipped off my head a few times. I hope this helps answer your question!

whoever says it doesnt look good on me it's wrong.
So if you like it just buy it and give it a try

btw. Mine it's a half bonnet, a stiff one. I bought it from Elpress but i think Clasical puppets have one model too
Elpress one cost me around 20€+ shipping

Im going to do some photos right now for a review so i could show you how it looks like bit later

I just purchased a half bonnet from Innocent World (to go with the dress) because I've wanted to try one forever. I have a very round/square-ish face (my cheeks are a bit fuller than yours and I don't have quite as pronounced of a chin), and I was nervous about it. I finally decided just to go for it because a friend of mine said she thinks they look lovely on all face types, and I figured if I hated it, since it's brand and from a popular series it shouldn't be hard to resell. Mine is the floppier kind (Philharmonie Angel, if you're interested in seeing it on their site).

I haven't gotten it yet, but when I do I can show you a pic or two! (:

I have 2 English Charm bonnets. A soft brim and a hard brim. I have a round face as well, but I tie the bonnet in the back instead of under my chin and curl my hair inwards so it makes my face look slimmer.

Do you have photos?

I can take a few. ;n; give me a few minutes since I just woke up, I'll PM them to you.

I tried to respond but your privacy levels wouldnt let me,
That stiff brim one looks really nice. Thank you for the photos. Yeah I was never going to tie it under my chin, it would be painful and look silly. It looks almost shorter on the side then other bonnets I have seen. Does it seem shorter to you or is it suppose to be like that?

Half bonnets tend to be shorter than full bonnets. I had a btssb one a while ago, but I sold it so I can't really give you a reference. Also if you tie it under your chin it tends to pull on the sides a little more making it seem longer.
English charm is completely custom, so I suppose you could just e-mail her and ask if she could make it like an inch or two longer. She's super nice so I'm sure she wouldn't mind.
