Possible Taobao Scammer

I stumbled across this store on Taobao:
They didn't even bother to take off the watermarks. So if they aren't scamming, they are selling brand (BTSSB, IW, VM...) at dirt cheap prices. I wouldn't want to be the one to find out though.

Looks like Milan** or another random scammer to me...
14th-Dec-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
Would not surprise me in the least. But you'd think they'd at least have the smarts to get rid of the watermarks.

Honestly, it's not what shocks me the most (because you have good replicas makers that don't remove the watermarks as well on TaoBao). What shocks me the most is the fact that they sell a "MM coat" for less than 500¥ (the normal price of a MM coat being ~50,000¥~65,000¥). Even replicas are priced at a more convincing price. They're really taking us for idiots.

While yes, it's a dodgy Taobao shop, I'd like to note that it is on Taobao, so the currency (that 500) is in RMB, not JPY, so the disparity isn't 100x, more like 8x.
15th-Dec-2012 06:07 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'm used to order on TaoBao, so I know that the price are normally in chinese currency (or something like that), but the prices are written in yen here (even though I did think it was strange)...
16th-Dec-2012 05:49 am (UTC)
As far as I know the ¥ is used in most shops on taobao including places like surface spell.
16th-Dec-2012 06:30 am (UTC)
Oh, really ? I didn't know that ! The only shops on TaoBao I ever dealt with priced their items in chinese currency, I didn't know they also used the japanese one. That's good to know, thanks =).

The symbol is interchangeable like the $ sign is, but the currencies are different.
16th-Dec-2012 05:08 pm (UTC)
I knew it for $ (since there all dollars : canadian dollar, australian dollar, US dollar, etc.) but I didn't think it applied for other currencies as well (since yuan and yen are not the same words... don't know if I'm making sense ^^') ! That's good to know anyway :).

You're making sense don't worry. It's just sometimes confusing since the symbol is the same so you have to be sure of what country the site you are on is haha.
16th-Dec-2012 04:00 pm (UTC)
The symbol for yuan is also the symbol for yen, similar to how the USD and Australian dollar (AUD) both use the dollar symbol.

Oh really ? Thanks for telling me, I didn't know that :D !

Do you know any good replica taobao shop? I'm looking for generic JetJ or MM style dresses ^^" that would actually fit my busty bust.
15th-Dec-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry, I don't buy dresses replicas so I can't tell you (and even though I knew, I don't think I'd have the right to tell you since discussions about replicas are forbidden, now, I think).
However, you can always commission a good seamstress on the community to make a dress in MM or J&J style that will fit your bust :) !
15th-Dec-2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
But not generic ones - these ones are allowed. I'm more interested in style (and price). I don't think anyone especially on here would go under $60 for a custom dress >_o
17th-Dec-2012 04:40 am (UTC)
It's going to be pretty hard to find a dress that's well made and fits really well for much under $60. If you're looking for dirt cheap clothing, it's going to be cheap fabric and iffy construction. Lolita clothing is a niche market no matter how you look at it, so the discounts you would usually expect for mass made fashion items simply won't be found. Not to mention, $60 isn't even very expensive for a non-niche-market dress unless you usually shop in discount stores.

If you're looking for decent quality Taobao dresses, check the review tags. Lots of people have bought things from Taobao and posted reviews, but asking random people about it won't mean anything if you're not looking to buy the exact same item that they've bought since Taobao shops will have inconsistencies in quality and fit just like any clothing label.

Another random scammer. Milan** would proudly show thier Milan** watermarks if it was them.
14th-Dec-2012 09:05 pm (UTC)
Oh, yeah, I forgot how proud they were to show to everybody that they were internationally known scammers (-_-').
15th-Dec-2012 01:44 am (UTC)
But somehow they still sell don't they? Not so much "known" scammers, really....

Sorry, I haven't expressed myself very well. They are well known scammers among us Lolitas, but we can't forget that they don't target Lolitas only ! They also sell a lot of cosplay and wedding dresses for cosplayers that don't wan't to put a lot of money in their costumes or brides that want to get married for cheap and quickly and don't take the time to do some research before.
But there are also some people (Lolitas) who know that Milan**'s quality isn't great and who will still buy from them for shoes (since Milan** buy their shoes to TaoBao stores) or even some people (cosplayers AND Lolitas) who don't care about the quality of what they get and simply buy stuff from them because it looks like Lolita or X manga character (and believe me, this category gathers A LOT of people -_-').
14th-Dec-2012 09:08 pm (UTC)
Considering there are no images to show the quality of what they are making, I would say that it's either a flat out scam, or very low quality replicas of those items that they are selling.

Second-hand brand goes for more than that in China.
14th-Dec-2012 09:21 pm (UTC)
Looks like what a lot of stores do. They use stock pics from other places and they make their own product. Sometimes you get something like what's pictures, but other times it's unwearable. With those prices, and only two diamonds I wouldn't trust to get something worth it.

Can you please replace the URL with the direct store link, instead? Your long URL is actually stretching the page. >_o Thanks!

Done! Sorry!!!!
