Mystery Garden on Facebook -- Reviews and/or thoughts?
14th-Dec-2012 07:38 pm
While searching around different Indie brands and places to comission lolita items, I ran across Mystery Garden, a lolita indie brand of sorts that operates off of Facebook.(link: https://www.facebook.com/MysteryGarden )

The page doesn't have as many likes as some of the other brands I've seen, such as Lady Sloth, and I can't seem to find many reviews on them (I saw one in French, but it was difficult for me to see the craftsmanship on the black dress in the video, and I don't speak French at all). Other than the review in French, I haven't seen any other reviews for them because my Google-fu has failed me.

However, the peices in the pictures the brand itself has posted seem well enough made, and the fact that they offer custom sizing is a must for me (I'm taller and plus-sized). I want to have an idea of the quality of Mystery Garden's items before I purchase. In particular, I'm looking at one of their OPs, but any idea of the quality of their items would be much appreciated.

I wanted to order from them an underskirt. The contact was terrible, they answered my questions after 3 days.
Contact with them took me over a week to actually get a little piece of information. They wanted over $40 for a simple underskirt and I would have no chance to see the colour of the material before making. At the end I gave up ordering from them.

Just throwing this out there, but a 3 day wait for a question isn't really that long for an indie brand where one person is most likely handling everything and $40 is honestly not a lot at all for a simple underskirt from an indie brand. That's honestly the low end of what I would expect to pay for something like that from a quality indie brand.

Yes, but when the conversation is like my response - 3 days waiting - their response -my immediate response - 5 days waiting - their response it takes quite a time, eh? And now she messaged me after 2 weeks of silence. That just shows attitude and I'm not sure if I want to give money to someone who doesn't care about me as a consumer. And money is money, no matter the price.

I saw many of Mystery Garden clothes photos in Polish community (MG owner is polish, as Lady Sloth). Quiality is really high. All photos are real. And Elluin (MG owner and tailor) is sewing professionally (she's after sewing school).

I commissioned a blouse from them. The communication was a bit slow but they were very helpful in providing info and pics on various laces and fabrics and the result was very good. It was also shipped rather fast. Bit yeah they are a bit difficult to reach, I asked for a new commission weeks ago and while they saw the Facebook pm, they haven't replied yet

Hello, I'm actually the owner of Mystery Garden. Thank you for posting this.
I'm trying to pick up high quality fabrics and lace but sometimes it depends of colour. I don't stock fabrics so usually I can't provide any photos of them before order.
Most of the dresses or skirts doesn't have lining by deatful unless the design requires it or when fabric is sheer. Edges are finished with overlock.

I have to admit, sometimes I reply slowly, I'm very sorry for this.

I'm currently over in Europe studying until the end of the week, but I hope to place an order with you when I arrive home--probably in mid-January or so, once the holidays have finished and there's been a bit of a break to let anything still left in customs go through, and give people a few weeks to take a breather after the holiday seasons.

I've seen generally positive things posted about you here, so I'm more comfortable with taking the plunge, as it may be.

Thank you for the info, I'll keep that in mind when ordering!

This is fine, I also don't accept any new orders to the end of December.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

I sew quite a bit myself, so I understand the amount of detail that goes into a lolita outfit.... It can be downright backbreaking at times. As such, I usually don't have a deadline when I order lolita clothes... Or if I do, I make sure to order WELL in advance (6 months, at the very least). If it's a tight deadline, I'll do it myself.

I'm glad to know that you can run them through the wash, too--that's some super useful information! I'll keep that in mind. Have you tumbled-dried them on a low setting, or do you air-dry them?
