BTSSB : Memorial Series overload!
13th-Dec-2012 12:05 pm

To quote go_slow_ly in a previous post ( : "the only thing you can't get is a crazy print JSK"

... I wonder if this is why BTSSB has been going nuts over releasing a lot of their older prints in different cuts. I can't be the only one that was surprised by the sudden influx! Check it out!

I hope I didn't miss any, but here's the listing of the prints they rereleased:

(-) Princess Honey's Tea Salon
(-) Marie Antoinette
(-) Antoinette Bouquet
(-) Alice and Her Black Cat
(-) Mother Goose
(-) Slow Motion Bouquet
(-) Usakumya's Dressy Sweet Time
(-) Sugar Bouquet
(-) Twinkle Dreaming Princess
(-) Parisienne's Princess Drop
(-) Alice in Funfair
(-) Chess Alice
(-) Mary in the Sky with Candies

I'm especially pleased that they decided to add Marie Antoinette into the mix! What other older prints do you wish they would re-release in their memorial series? Personally, mine is the Cinderella print.

I think there was a rerelease of AatP's Masquerade Theater, but from what I heard it was either tea party/in store only.

I wish they would re-release the halloween alice trick or treat print!! they did re-release it in store only for the new shop, but so few were made. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they release it online, but I've kind of lost hope. If alice in funfair came in black i would have totally grabbed it. I've always wanted that one and the original JSK is just a bit too tiny for my bust.

LOVE the marie one though-- it's getting hard to resist!
13th-Dec-2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
I'm hoping they'll rerelease even more older prints!
13th-Dec-2012 11:17 pm (UTC)
Ermagad if they released the Halloween print with an updated bodice... or maybe like grey/black or event an ORANGE/BLACK colourway I would seriously loose it.
13th-Dec-2012 08:10 pm (UTC)
I would love to see some of the Alice and the Pirates prints like Masquerade Theater in a cut that doesn't have the boning, in the mix!

Also, Clockwork Tea Party in Blue and Treasure Hunt in the Mystic Island (mostly because it ended up being a lot smaller than listed)
13th-Dec-2012 08:10 pm (UTC)
I would like to see Clockwork get a rerelease. BTSSB does make a lot of really fantastic prints! I agree with you with the boning.
13th-Dec-2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
oh man masquerade theater without the boning would be so awesome! i really hate the plastic boning they use in their stuff-- after awhile it starts to poke through.
13th-Dec-2012 08:15 pm (UTC)
That's my problem with it, I have a red JSK sitting on my mending pile that I need to get someone to take the boning out of for me :( It sucks because they sewed it right into the seams instead of casing it, so you have to like... take apart the whole bodice to take it out.
13th-Dec-2012 10:41 pm (UTC)
That's terrible! Maybe consider taking to a tailor and putting metal boning in there. It's fairly cheap and hold a better shape (and is tons more resilient) than plastic. I've replaced the boning on a few jsks and it makes a world of difference.
13th-Dec-2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
well, part of the problem is that it's just a medium weight cotton with no lining. they didn't cap the boning and just tucked it under the flaps from the seams and sewed it all down. then sewed the bodice to the rest. its not strong enough to really have boning at all...
13th-Dec-2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
also i'm guessing no aatp stuff is being re-released as part of the memorial series... doesn't look like it anyhow.
13th-Dec-2012 08:14 pm (UTC)
I think we can hope. Haha. :)
13th-Dec-2012 08:18 pm (UTC)
lol yeah it's probably better in the end that i don't spend the money right now o_O though i'd love a re-release of the original pirate alice. i hated the weird back flaps on the jsk that you kind of had to tie up but they never laid flat. I'd love a redesign of that one for sure. I regret selling it because i love the print, but man do i not miss those back flap things!
13th-Dec-2012 08:26 pm (UTC)
Is it an anniversary of BTSSB? I don't have my book with the brand time line in it with me ATM. If so, I wonder if they will do a pirates memorial series when pirates has the same anniversary?
13th-Dec-2012 08:59 pm (UTC)
oh god I hope so. that will be glorious!!
13th-Dec-2012 08:21 pm (UTC)
oh! I forgot; I'd love to see dripping rococo accessories and pocket embroidery too!
13th-Dec-2012 10:11 pm (UTC)
I neeeeed CTP. ;3;
14th-Dec-2012 02:50 pm (UTC)
It I could accio one for you, I totally would... but alas, hogwarts never sent me a letter.
13th-Dec-2012 11:19 pm (UTC)
Right?! The boning is the bane of my sewing existence. The bodice measurements always fit me with room to spare but when they put the boning all the way up the front of the dress it doesn't contour to the shape of someone's bust/waist and turns you into an upside down triangle... super unflattering. And then the triangle shape continues outward over the bust making like a pompous boob shelf of frills instead of maintaining 'decency.' I still don't know what to do with my Vampire Prelude JSK but the alter is probably going to start with full de-boning.

I really like the Antoinette cut here! I wish I knew if it has shirring on the back xD
13th-Dec-2012 08:14 pm (UTC)
I think it does! It just went up recently, so here's the link to the item:

and specifically the back image:

On top of the pictures, if you look at the measurements, it has a bust range: 84-110cm, which usually indicates shirring. The only thing I would be careful of is that there is a possibility that it doesn't have a zipper. Sometimes I've seen things with IW and Putumayo where something goes up to 100cm or more in the bust, but it's because the brand didn't put a zipper in, so they added more stretch....
13th-Dec-2012 09:49 pm (UTC)
It is a pain if you have broad shoulders. I have a fully shirred back jsk from BABY (recent dress that they have). And the process to get that thing on and off lol is an adventure. The shirring isn't as "pliable" but I guess that's because it's new?
13th-Dec-2012 09:59 pm (UTC)
It might be that they used an elastic with a higher tension? I have some skirts with very strong elastic (like it takes a lot more physical effort to stretch it). It's a lot less comfortable, IMHO, when they do that. Getting the couple fully shirred dresses I have off is always an adventure for me though. XD the on is the easy part. The off? not so much.
13th-Dec-2012 10:02 pm (UTC)
The other thing are the straps, they have elastic in them too - not the detachable kind, so it's like a fight to get this because those buggers aren't detachable!
13th-Dec-2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
lol, I actually find that kind a lot easier, because I can't button the straps behind my own back on my JSKs, so I always button them before I put them on. XD

Love that they're doing this, wish I wasn't broke! I was so excited to see Marie Antoinette, but kind of sad it's only in one color. I like blue but red was my fav! I'd love to see them bring back the snow white print, broke or not I'd find a way to buy that!!
13th-Dec-2012 11:20 pm (UTC)
I was hoping for red as well!
13th-Dec-2012 08:49 pm (UTC)
Oh man, this was like my entire wishlist from 2008-2010. *_* Well, except for Twinkle Dreaming Princess and Mother Goose. Never cared much for those.

The only one that really tempts me these days is the Alice Chess skirt...
13th-Dec-2012 08:54 pm (UTC)
This is how I feel. I loved a lot of prints back then and now I feel like I moved on :D
But I guess if they would re-release some Aatp-prints as well.. hmmm tempting!
13th-Dec-2012 09:12 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it's interesting how our style changes over time.

I'd also be more tempted by AATP! I would love to see a re-release of St. Mephisto Cathedrale in particular. Kicking myself for not buying it when I had the chance!
13th-Dec-2012 08:57 pm (UTC)
Ooo I think this is cool! I always liked the twinkle dreaming princess and I dont know why.

I also like that charming kitty one <3
13th-Dec-2012 09:50 pm (UTC)
I don't know why they rereleased some of these...

Here's a picture of the Masquerade Theater re-release (which I loved). My favorites were the ones in the top image!
13th-Dec-2012 09:52 pm (UTC)
I had never seen Slow Motion Bouquet until the re-release; it is super pretty!!!
13th-Dec-2012 10:11 pm (UTC)
I like that they are re-releasing awesome prints but it's disappointing that they're being lazy about the cuts.
13th-Dec-2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
The stained glass print in another design that would fit up to 100cm bust and a 90cm waist. ^_^;
(because the op is so hard to find..)
14th-Dec-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
It feels like so many brands are doing re-releases recently. AP has been on the rerelease bandwagon for a few years now but I kinda feel like this is the first BIG rerelease I've seen. I could easily be wrong though.

Maybe Meta will take the hint and produce another set for Twinkle Journey.
14th-Dec-2012 02:53 pm (UTC)
Probably because some of them have become rather rare, and they don't have to draw the art from scratch. So they have a print they can release that they already know will do well, and they only have to put in the work that they would put into a solid piece. Granted, they still have to special-print the fabric, but it seems smart to me, with how popular print pieces have become lately, and how much some of these sell second hand...
14th-Dec-2012 02:05 am (UTC)
probably totally off topic, but what I would do for an insane mad hatter princess OP of Trick Hat Prick Heart O_O
14th-Dec-2012 02:18 am (UTC)
gdi ain't nobody got money for this
14th-Dec-2012 06:08 am (UTC)
I wish they would re-release the original snow white print in a nicer jsk cutting
14th-Dec-2012 09:19 am (UTC)
i would love to see re-releases of the various fairytale embroidery series
14th-Dec-2012 10:14 pm (UTC)
T_T I want them ALL!
15th-Dec-2012 08:51 am (UTC)
