non-brand lolita gift suggestions random post of cool interesting things
11th-Dec-2012 08:04 pm
So I figured since the theme is gifts to why not just post lolita realted gift ideas. To make it a little harder non-brand related items.

I'll put comments of price ranges, which will mostly be lower for the sake of interests.

So post away! (as always don't link to things you're selling)

Dollar Tree sells really cute cupcake bath salt "bombs" (which are, of course, $1). They also sell scented candles which come in mini tea/coffee cups.

A trip to a second-store! Most of the time I can find something loli-able, like a nice puff sleeved blouse, a great necklace, a few yards of fabric, or a cute accessory, most of the time for under 5$

Hair accessories and cute decorations from Daiso (almost everything is $1.50, though occasionally there are a few slightly more expensive things).

Also school supplies from Sanrio.

Daiso~! They got everything. Little gift things like fluffy gloves or sponges.

I got one of my friends a really cute Hello Kitty mug from The Works for £2.99 ($3.20)
It's really nice, not tacky at all, in fact I'm going to go back and get one for myself! ;-)

This loli-able blouse from Forever 21. In fact they're selling a ton of cheap loli-able blouses right now.

For the victorian lady in everyone, hand made sugar cubes are necessary for tea! http://www.niftythriftythings.com/2011/06/diy-sugar-cubes.html Just find a cute candy mold and you're good to go. I'm only posting this idea on this thread because some candy molds can be expensive, but there are plenty for under $5!

I had never thought of making my own before (and I have a ton of silicone molds...) I'm lazy so I buy these: http://www.austinsugarworks.com/

I guess they have the benefit of coming in flavors/colors but I'm sure it's more cost effective to make your own! :D

Another awesome tights find from Target are these black tights with rhinestone embellishments. I think they go great with a lot of coords that feature jewels etc (and have a fun holiday sparkle)!

I purchased a shiba plush for my lolita friend who is in to sweet stuff from here:

Or maybe an OTT t-shirt for some casual days?

The Home Goods / Marshalls stores that I've been to recently have had a number of great Loliable gifts in the $5-$25 range, including assorted tea tins, demitasse tea cup sets, pretty tea pots, and a bunch of nice jewelry trees and jewelry boxes. The selection varies from store to store, but the prices are always very reasonable, and the quality of merchandise is usually good.

This Paris themed charm bracelet would go well with any of the letter/envelope prints?

A different take on the bath bomb/bubble bath idea that's elegant- soap petals! They come in a variety of scents, but I personally am partial to vanilla... (I think they also look great as a lolita bathroom display...)

There are tons of beautiful tights here too. They are slightly cheaper than Grimoire.

For the pirate lolita in your life:
http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Couture-Treasure-Chest-Ring/dp/B008AU5VC4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1355439758&sr=8-5&keywords=treasure+chest+ring

Treasure chest rings! I posted the blue/silver one since I think there tends to be a lot of navy/blue/white in nautical prints, but the Disney line actually has several versions/colors of treasure chests in both ring and necklace form. Plus, they open and reveal jewels inside!

(I heard that Claire's had a less expensive treasure chest ring, but I've had no luck in locating one.)

Oh my I could think of tons of things!

Biscuits, sweets, and other fancy treats.

Tea items from cups to pots to shaped strainers and, of course, tea itself.

Fancy boxes for her jewelry and general storage.

Sweet Potpourri or various fragrances.

Cute or delicate jewelry, luscious bows, pins, rings, and more.

Figurings or Treasures like dolls, purfume bottles, music boxes or a symbol of a theme she adores.

Books, furnishings, antiques, gift cards...

I think that's it!

I found the most amazing Pick 'n Pay. It's like 4km's from my house (this is going to be a problem). They sell sooo much imported stuff and the one aisle is just tea. There's "Love" flavoured tea for gooness sakes. What does that even mean?? I'm going to do 90% of my Christmas shopping there.

I made a blog post of gift ideas a few days ago. :) Prices range from $5-$30 and come from all sorts of places.
