Easter meet suggestions.
12th-Nov-2012 12:55 pm
Hey everyone!

Yea I know it's a bit early to already be thinking about Easter when Christmas has still to come and all but I like to start organising my events and meets a while before to prepare and such.

I had three options in thought;
1) Organise a Home-Made Easter meet. With a self made Easter inspired high tea with an egg hunt and other such games with prizes. Small and snug.
2)Organise a trip out e.g high tea in a cafe, visit a musem or art gallery. visit the fair, a zoo or do a photoshoot etc.
3)Hire a hall/room somewhere and organise a little Tea Party with the home made things and games where more people could attend eventually.

What do you guys think? Which one would you rather go to?

Thanks in advance for your kind suggestions and ideas.

Just so you know, you've posted this to the main comm by mistake.

it sounds like she's asking general advice for activities for a meet up. I don't see why this can't be posted on the main community. People post info about meets ups at specific locations all the time.

You think so? It just sounds to me like she's talking to her local comm to organize a meetup beforehand rather than just posing general ideas. I could definitely be mistaken, though.

I saw it as a general question for everyone since it was so early and it just seemed like she was brainstorming ideas...Also most of the local communities don't use Livejournal anymore and have move onto facebook, so the chances she meant it for the main community seem more likely. Like you though I could be mistaken.

I really like the first idea with the egg hunt. Once you get older you can't really go egg hunting anymore, but who doesn't like those plastic eggs with candy inside? Maybe put a few lolita relation prizes in the eggs, or a paper saying you've won X. Things like stationary, jewelry, socks. At home meet up is nice too since it could be a pot-luck event and easier when it comes to food/drink in general. Maybe even try making dishes with edible flowers in them! That's very spring. Maybe have a scone party too where everyone makes a different scone and brings the recipe for everyone. Set the table outside, ask people to bring their own tea cup and maybe even pot like they use to do. Then you don't have to worry about having enough of those and more tea pots =more time you as the hostess doesn't have to spend refilling them! Other than that there's tons of party ideas online.

Depending on how large your community is and if they're willing to chip in with a hall and catering. It would be nice, but also expensive...which might discourage visitors.

edit: grr at typos and a sudden idea.

Yup brainstorming ideas indeed! ^-^
I like a little inspiration from others. Helps the imagination grow.:P

I also liked the idea of a lovely garden tea party with an egg hunt:)

I like the first idea. My community seems to really like when I host meet ups, which are always at my home!
People relax more, and there aren't the stares of the general public to deal with. Sometimes smaller is better.

I like egg hunt a lot! It's a traditionnal activity for me at easter since I was young and I just look forward to it a lot. XD So I would probably choose the first option. ^w^

But I like tea parties and games too... So I second the idea of a garden party. 8D I love taking tea outside, espacially in spring. ~

On a holiday weekend, things like high tea and museums are more likely to be crowded, so it might not be the best time to go out in an extreme fashion like lolita. On top of that it's not always as friendly to those who may have dietary restrictions. As for a hall or room, either you'll wind up bearing the entire expense (which isn't too fair!), or you'll have to charge people to attend (which may prevent some lolitas from coming). An at-home meet might be the best for a busy holiday weekend- you can easily keep the cost down by asking guests to bring a dish or a drink, and you'll be able to plan fun games and enjoy them without having curious onlookers in your way (or without getting in anyone else's way!).

I organized an Easter Egg Picnic this past Easter for the NOLA Community. It was fun! we all brought food to share, and we had gift baskets to the person who found the golden egg and to the person who found the most eggs. We had it in NOLA City Park under the oak trees so it was nice and shady and we had a ton of room to play around with. Some girls even climbed some of the oak trees!
