Milky-chan and Merry Sweet Castle replica reviews!
12th-Jan-2011 06:49 am
Mini me

On my blog, I've posted two reviews. One for Seventeencastle17's Milky-chan replica and one for the same company's Merry Sweet Castle replica.

Both are simultaneously one after the other so you can just read the general page! :D I hope they are helpful.
Mods, feel free to delete if this is not allowed! (I don't know how to tag this...)

Sorry, no comment on the reviews, but should you really be using Claire Belton's art, tracing, re-colouring it and claiming it as your own without mentioning her at all?

I'm sorry, who?

Claire Belton, or Queenofdorks on deviantART? You're actually also using an icon from her dress-up game too (though I've no problem with that).

Oh! That's who it is. My main character is inspired by some of her pictures. I didn't mention that? I could've sworn I'd put that in my credit-box-thingy? I'm sorry, I thought I did. Yes, I know who queenofdorks is. Claire Belton didn't ring a bell.

Well, the thing is, I don't know how much she is inspired so much as directly copied. :S Have you asked Queenofdorks for permission for this sort of thing?

Well, no, I should probably do that shouldn't I? I feel really bad...I should just take down Miss Marigold. Don't need her anyway. Sorry about that :S

Oh no worries, she might be alright with it you know, if you should choose to ask her! You never know unless you ask, hmm? :-)
But I understand if you'd rather take it down, perhaps you could try drawing your own version of your character from scratch.

On another note, the review is appreciated, but might you mention fabric quality a little? :-) I had heard that the Milky-chan replica in particular uses quite thin fabric?

That's true, thanks for the advice :D I feel really bad now...I might try redrawing her but who knows? I was planning on redoing my layout anyways.

Sure, I'll go back and edit it in a while after I do some things. The fabric is a bit thin, I'll have to look it over again to see just HOW thin it is.

Thanks again very much!

Not a problem! But don't beat yourself up about it, you did credit her and you didn't try to skirt around the issue, which is more than I can say for a lot of people! XD

It might also be good if you can manage it to add some worn pics? Just a suggestion. :-)

Haha, you're very welcome!

Putting music on your blog is one of the best ways to make sure people who visit it once never come back again.

Hmm. Didn't know that.

Agreed. If I open up a page and it's playing music, i'll just shut it down straight away without even looking at it.

Ah, well, I see. I could probably just take it off after I redo my layout. Thanks!

That is so true. I hate being startled by music coming out of nowhere. That's why I don't use taobaobuying. I have to turn off all of the sound function, even if I feel like playing my itune.

The red dress is not fully shirred, it has shirring in the back and bust.

I got that Milky-chan replica in black for the hell of it. They screwed up the print on a lot of the sections to the point where the details blur together, and not all the print transferred. So I have deer and rabbits missing parts of their legs, or parts were it fades to black through half of of image or you can see the black through it, and parts where you can't even tell what image it's supposed to be because of the blurriness. I guess it was just mine that got screwed up when being made since yours and all the other reviews never say anything about having a messed up print.

The next surprise comes when you wash it! The black colour turns magically into an ugly grey!^^ Same with the melty-chocolate-replicas by Dream of lolita, but melty-chocolate also shrunk to mini-mini-length! XD ...I swear by the gods of lolita, I will never buy replicas again! (fingers crossed just in case)
