Around-the-World Lolita Stories

trc, fai, tsubasa, tsubasa reservoir chronicles, yuui
I have started a blog called thevelveteenlolita.blogspot.com. In it, I'm writing book reviews and articles on the Lolita fashion.

In this blog, I've decided to create a series called Around-the-World Lolita. It's a collection of true Lolita-themed stories written and experienced by Lolitas from all over the world.

The only problem is this: I don't know Lolitas from all over the world. So, I need your help. Perhaps you could post some of your Lolita experiences in the comments below?

Thanks for your help.

I just checked out your blog, it's on a great start!
But by far the first thing that caught my eye (and I loved it) is the watercolor background of your blog. Beautiful! and I wanted to alert you that you have exquisite tastes in backgrounds, and watercolors for that matter!

Also out of curiosity is there a certain type, or sort of experiences you're looking for?

Thank you!

I guess I'm looking for reactions that you've received when wearing Lolita, as well as just experiences that have stuck with you over time.

I'd love to contibute! And random statment; Yuui and Fai are to die for when little, right? They're so cute, it's not possible for them to be bad!

I agree with this comment.
*closeted clamp fangirl*

Uhm, back to topic-- I'm afraid I have no stories to share. I haven't met any other lolis IRL, and am only just getting into it myself.

Not true. You could discribe the feelings you got when you got your fist JSK or OP or wore a coord for the first time.

Unfortunately, I'm so new to actually wearing the style that my first real order is on the way, still. *fail*
I could, er, provide stories regarding my years-long admiration?

That works! Not eveyone jumps in, like I did. Some stalk the forums and admire until they are ready. The process is different for everyone.

Either one was supposed to kill the other or they must both be stuck in that horrible valley until the world ended... so sad.

I know. There should have been a third option; I get to adopt one of them!

Congrats on your new blog! It looks like you made a very interesting start. I have the same question as a commenter above me. What kind of experiences are you looking for?
I could tell lots of stuff about the lolita scene in my country, but I dont know what exactly would you be interested in

Thank you. I'm looking for memories of Lolita (especially of being at a gathering, tea party, etc.), as well as reactions to Lolita that you've come across.

I'm following you, and you are off to a great start. I'm loving the Breast Cancer Awareness post, that's very thoughtful of you.

Thank you!

I'd love to help/be a part of this! I'm not entirely active on the loli end of the spectrum (and when I do it's FAR from textbook) more so gothic so I don't know if I'd be what you are looking for... I also have some experience with the scene in a lesser-known part of Japan.

I suppose a summary: Learned of the fashion in Japan, but gothic was more prevalent in my area, returned to my home in Texas, attended school in the Midwest for awhile, returned to Japan and saw a change in the scene there, and am now attending school in Hawai'i. Let me know if I can help!

I would love to hear your story in more detail, especially since you don't follow every rule in the book. Thank you very much!

Glad to hear that, especially as I sometimes fear putting my outfits onto egl.
Maybe if you have gmail or skype we can have a real-time conversation some time?
5th-Oct-2010 03:36 am (UTC)
Maybe so. Maybe send me a PM one of these days?

Lj wouldn't let me PM you, but I figure this thread is dead enough by now I can just post it here.

My gmail is ashuridragonfly[at]gmail[dot]com (and if you have skype you can look me up under asorisu :)

Congrats for the blog it's beautiful :3

I'd like to contribute with you [I'm from Perú] but I quite don't understand what exactly you're expecting ;_; but well... I'm 20, met lolita through music and fashion mags I liked it because I felt and feel I could make everything look beautiful through me, I made my very 1st coordinate when I was 17 and well, as here people tend to be a little bit rude [not only calling you stuff but you know, ugly things] I normally wear lolita on weekends when I go out with my bf and bff, got little friends and like to go around to cute caffee's, cinema, shopping, etc. Here lolita is practically unknown so it calls attention a lot in a lot of ways but well it comes with it. Hope helps ;_;

I have a great one. I was going to Hyper Japan in London, England with a friend last Saturday wearing AP's Fantasic Dolly when a group of kids passed and one called me a slapper, but then a random guy on a bike passed by and said I looked brilliant, a woman in a Mercedes called my friend and me over and asked where my outfit came from and said she loved it (my friend laughed and thought she was going to ask for directions!) and at the event itself I was told I 'looked fantastic' etc etc ... quite polar reactions from those who can't appreciate it v those who can. I'd post a photo, but my friend has them at the moment.

Back in Melbourne, Australia I was wearing IW's lace topped knee highs and a guy in the city called out 'you have boss socks!'. Also, I would like to add that I have a store, and a lot of girls come with various family members to consult - in short, it's a family outing and an experience to share. Everyone's smiling, chattering and commenting on various styles, colours and items, putting things together and coming up with ideas.

At the moment, I am near Turku in Finland and will be going to Stockholm, Sweden as well as Paris, France... so who knows what I will experience next. This is the first holiday I've had in over 2 years and may not have one for another 2 or 3, so I have to make the most of it!

Thank you very much! I'll post the stories.

ooh! I have one!~^^

I am from California and over the summer I went on a trip to central Europe with my sister and mom. One of the days when we were in Paris, we unexpectedly got to go to the baby store, which I was extremely excited about. I was upset that I wasn't wearing lolita that day since I had packed lolita with me in my bag back in the hotel. At the baby shop, I was greeted by the sweetest sales girl I have ever met and she was a gorgeous lolita as well!
After I left the shop, I saw another lolita dressed in AP talking to her friends and I asked her if she spoke english and if she knew where the new AP shop was. She was sooo nice and walked me all the way to the store which her friend was the manager of!

After Paris, we went to Salzburg Austria, the last place where I would expect to meet lolitas! On the last day when we were waiting inside of a mall before our train arrived, a girl came up to me, commenting on how I was wearing lolita! We talked for a few minutes excitedly and exchanged lj accounts~ Meeting these girls also proved to my mom who always told me I was weird for dressing in "costumes" that there were other girls who are into the same thing~ ^^
