My little story about Innocent World

There is nothing negative here (except some few things) and this I write because I just want to tell about it. ^^



Once upon a time, a month ago or so, I saw a beautiful dress on the Innocent World website. It was the Pictor Jumperskirt in the colour Café au Lait! I fell instantly for it, but as soon as I fell for it a thought passed my mind... The same thought that always pass my mind when I find a dress I love. "Will it fit? 8'( " My guess was "No, it won't...", but just for fun I decided to check out the measurements on this dress.

My heart skipped a beat as I saw that the bust measured from 89cm to 107 cm. "It will fit!!" I exclaimed happily, and it did not take long until that month's scholarship money was spent on that dress and some few other accessory items. I waited in excitement for the package. I thought of how many wonderful coords I would be able to put together with the jumperskirt. How I could wear it on casual days, and how I could dress it up for special occations!

Then, some weeks later I finally got the package in the mail. I unpacked the accesories (they were gorgeous..!) and finally I unpacked the dress. Very happy to finally have it in my hands I hugged it and studied the details in the fabric and the wonderful subtle lace. Then I thought it was about time to try it on... But it would not fit. There wasn't even a question about it. As soon as I got it over my head I realized it was a lost cause. Sad and a little angry I picked up my measuring tape to see what the size of the dress really was (and to make sure it was not only me since a friend playfully commented "you've grown!! 8D" (yes, he was bricked.)).

Realization and disappointment washed over me as the measuring tape showed that the bust measurement of the dress was 80cm while the waist measurement was 75cm. In the beginning I was not sure of what to do, but as another friend adviced me to, I sent a mail to Innocent World informing them of the situation and the wrong information on the site. I was afraid all of this would be pushed right back at me, that it was my own fault for purchasing a dress like that. But after the weekend had passed I did get a reply from them.

They sincerely appologized for the fault in their website. They also suggested that I could ship the dress back to them for either a refund or to replace with another item from their shop. As I now currently was drooling all over a wintercoat from another brand, I kindly asked for a refund and they would do it gladly. They also asked me to tell them the shipping costs for shipping it back to them, so they also could refund that.

This all makes me very happy! =D As I have heard some stories of other lolitas having problems with brand customer service. Now I can happily say that Innocent World still has not disappointed me when it comes to their international service! I am also a little proud to say that they now have changed the measurements on the listing of the dress to the more appropriate sizes and that it is all because of me... *giggles* ^.^

I think I can guess how this happened - the person who made the webpage assumed the dress had shirring but it didn't! I'm glad to hear both you and IW handled yourself maturely and everyone was happy in the end =D This is a really good example story for other people who have problems with their items.

Though I am very happy as they also mentioned in the mail to me that they would do their best to not let anything like that ever happen again! =D

When I think of it, it isn't often people write about their good experiences when it comes to situations like these. Also I just wanted to tell someone since I'm a little proud of myself.. XD; *first time she's "complained" about an item*

This is awesome. I'm very glad everything turned out so well and hope you're getting something nice for your refund. I love IW's customer service, that's how it should be *hints at baby*!

It is very awesome =D As for the refund.. I'm finally getting me a proper tailormade wintercoat, as it is veeeery needed up here! XD At least if this winter will be as cold as the last one.. <.<

I think Baby is the brand I've heard worst things about, but I've never had to talk to them because of situations like this... I really hope I never will have to either o.o

Glad to hear your experience with IW went well. Tbh, I'm not surprised that they did a great job with handling your situation! They've got a great track record.

What is curious however, is that my measurements are slightly larger than the ones currently listed for the dress (I have a 90cm bust and 76cm waist) and it fits perfectly - no tightness anywhere for me.

I think their max measurements are usually on the safe side. Every now and then I'm also about 1 cm off, but the stuff still fits. :]

I have another good story about IW, when I went to their Shinjuku store in 2007 I was looking for shoes and found an awesome pair. But it was not available in my size and had to be transfered from another store. Usually no problem but it would have taken around one week (we only had 4 more days in Tokyo). We told the shopgirl that and she called the other store and arranged it that the shoes would arrive in 3 days. She even called our hotel when the shoes got there. I was very satisfied.

IW and Meta seems to be the two brands really wanting to do something good for their customers.

Maybe AP and BABY don't need to do this... Because we'll buy their shit anyway, lol xD

I've never dealed with Meta before, so I don't know about them, but I'm veery impressed with Innocent World =D That's for sure.

You might have a point there. XD Personally though, I'm starting to loose my faith in brand. Though that's simply because of sizes. XD I've started aiming for custom made off brand and sewing myself now since I never find anything that fits.

Thanks for posting this! I just adjusted the Lolibrary entry.

I'm glad they handled everything so well -- they really do impress me.

It's also great that you had the guts to approach them, since many other lolita brands may have not been so accommodating.

To be honest, I wasn't planning to approach them at all. I'm usually too shy or afraid to e-mail or note anyone about any problem, because I'm afraid I will be viewed as rude or get a mean reply back.. *hates fights and discussions all in all* But a very good friend of mine encouraged me to do it. =) So when I wrote them I also added that I was very happy with the other items I received. As they were so polite back I don't think I will have a problem with noting them in the future in case something else comes up. ^^

I agree this seems great. I always new meta was amazing, and i have great love for them since they were (for a long time) the only brand that sold to us and communicated in english with their customers, so i'm really happy that others are now following them.
